Third Strand Baby Whitten
“I knew I had always wanted to be a mom, growing up that was the one thing in my life that didn’t change. One thing that wasn’t on my list was getting breast cancer. Unfortunately 4 years ago today I heard those two words that will rattle anyone to the core, it’s Cancer. Why was this happening, I did everything I was supposed to do. I waited until I found my soulmate to have children, I had my career going, I was comfortable in life, however one of the many other thoughts that went through my mind was how am I going to be able to feed my baby, I don’t want to do formula. Not only am I losing my breast but now I’m going to be losing the ability to feed my baby, that is if I’m still able to have a baby.
Fortunately, not long after having my double mastectomy and reconstruction we found out that God had blessed my husband and I with a precious baby girl, but again that worry about not being able to give her a better start to life with breast milk weighed on my mind. I started doing some research and someone led me to Third Strand, I filled out an application and Kyle contacted me right away. Telling me he definitely would help us feed our girl!! I can’t begin to tell you how much weight that took off of my heart! Kyle arraigned for someone to deliver 2 months of breast milk a couple weeks before Maddelyn was due, at no cost to us at all.
Unfortunately life throws punches like always, and while I was pregnant we found out that even though I had a DMX, I had a reoccurrence, then my world flipped upside down again. Here I am going through more surgeries and treatments with a 4 month old, I am happy to say that I fought hard and won once more.
Life slowed down we raised a baby through a crazy world pandemic, and when we got another positive pregnancy test we were elated our little family was going to be complete. Sadly, 1 year ago today I also found out that I had a miscarriage, we were devastated. God had other plans for us, our world was turned upside down a month after we lost the baby with me almost loosing husband.
But every storm has that rainbow, God has blessed us with another little bundle that will finally be here in August!! Our little family is finally going to be complete, and once again I reached out to Kyle and the AMAZING organization that is Third Strand to request their help with feeding Whitten. I can never thank Kyle and Third Strand enough for welcoming us into this amazing family almost 3 years ago, because of them our babies are able to thrive with the best start possible!”
